South Central Railway rushes special trains with repair material to tackle two breaches

South Central Railway (SCR) has announced that swift action is being taken for restoration of breaches at railway tracks between Bhiknur and Tadmadla in the Medchal–Nizamabad section and in Akanapet–Medak due to incessant rains on Wednesday evening (August 27, 2025).

Water has been overflowing on the tracks in the above two sections for the past several hours and to ensure additional safety, train services in Nizamabad–Medchal section were streamlined immediately with cancellations/partial cancellations/diversions/reschedulings, informed an official release. As many as 10 trains were cancelled and eight partially. Sixteen trains were diverted via alternative routes and two were rescheduled.

A round the clock Disaster Management and Response Control (DMRC) room has been setup at Rail Nilayam to monitor the situation from time to time and speed up the restoration of breached tracks. General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava was present at the control room to personally monitor the situation.

Hyderabad DRM Santosh Kumar Varma along with other senior officials rushed to the spot by tower car to inspect the restoration works. A monsoon special with 14 wagons carrying sand bags, boulders, girders and sleepers has started from Purna junction at 1 p.m. towards the Tadmadla–Bhiknur section to carry out restoration works.

One more monsoon special with 28 wagons left Kazipet at 1.25 p.m. towards Nizamabad section. A high-level engineering team reached the spot to assess the damage and an action plan has been prepared to restore the railway track on war footing.

Managers of the pantry cars on the trains diverted through alternative routes are being advised to make available proper food and water to passengers.

Following trains have been diverted: Train No. 17606 Bhagat Ki Kothi to Kacheguda diverted via Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Kazipet, Moula Ali; ditto with Train No.17057 Mumbai CSMT-Lingampally skipping Kamareddy, Bolarum, etc.

Train No. 17058 Lingampally-Mumbai CSMT and Train No. 16734 Okha-Ramesaram have been diverted via Secunderabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad skipping Kamareddy. Train No. 17663 Raichur–Parbhani diverted via Vikarabad, Parli Vaijnath, Purna as also Train No 17664 H.S Nanded–Raichur; Train No. 07054 Bikaner–Kacheguda; Train No. 17019 Hisar–Hyderabad, Train No. 17063 Manmad–Kacheguda, Ajanta Express.

Train No. 12794 Nizamabad-Tirupati Rayaseema Express has been cancelled while the Train No. 57301 Kacheguda-Medak has been partially cancelled between Mirzapalli-Medak. Seven other trains between Kacheguda-Nizamabad/Karimnagar/Medak/Bodhan and Tirupati-Adilabad are also cancelled on August 27, 2025 and August 28, 2025.
