South Indian fruits festival in Trichy on June 14

Trichy: Cauvery Calling movement will organise a seminar and a fruits festival at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Trichy, on June 14.Announcing the event at a press conference held in Trichy on Friday, Cauvery Calling field coordinator Tamilmaran highlighted the drawbacks of monocropping, which he said reduces farmers’ income while depleting soil fertility and groundwater.“Tamil Nadu farmers traditionally practised food forest systems with fruit trees, but these have largely disappeared due to monocropping,” he said. “This seminar aims to revive that model by guiding farmers on fruit cultivation, value addition, and marketing.”The one-day event will feature technical sessions by scientists from leading agricultural institutions, success stories of farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh, and an exhibition showcasing sustainable farming practices.Cauvery Calling movement was launched by Sadhguru
