Sri Sathya Sai district Superintendent of Police S. Satheesh Kumar on Saturday (October 18, 2025) said that strict legal action will be taken against persons resorting to storing and sale of firecrackers without valid licence or violating safety norms.

Speaking to the media here, the SP said that only licensed traders are permitted to sell fireworks and that sales must be conducted only at specified locations. “The police teams will monitor firecracker outlets closely and ensure adherence to all safety norms,” he added.

Mr. Kumar said that vendors must maintain basic firefighting equipment, including water and sand, at every stall. He warned that anyone found manufacturing, storing, or selling fireworks illegally will face prosecution.

The SP appealed to the public to celebrate Deepavali safely. “Parents must remain vigilant when children handle firecrackers. They should prevent the children from lighting high-sounding and risky crackers,” he said.

He urged the public to report any incidents of illegal firecracker sales or fire accidents on “Dial 112” or “100”, or by informing the nearest police station.
