SPA officials assure to develop Kondapalli toys, historic fort

The management of School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, has assured to develop Kondapalli toys, handicrafts and the historic Kondapalli Fort. Officials of SPA, who held a meeting with NTR Collector G. Lakshmisha on Monday, discussed on promoting the disappearing Kondapalli handicrafts and the historic Khilla.

“Kondapalli toys are famous across the nation, and the artisans need proper support and encouragement. I request the SPA management to join hands to promote Kondapalli brand toys,” Mr. Lakshmisha said.

The SPA officials said the matter would be taken to the notice of the institute Director and other officials. The SPA management would help in setting up the Kondapalli Toys Experience Centre, the Collector said. “There is a need to protect Kondapalli art and pass it on to the next generation. We are making efforts to provide raw material and market the famous toys,” Mr. Lakshmisha told the the SPA officials.

Government is planning to develop Kondapalli as a model village and tourist spot, provide financial and market support to the artisans, and beautify the fort with the help of SPA, the Collector said.
