A young couple was killed and three others injured in a road accident at Bibinagar on Sunday (November 2).

The deceased were identified as Prashanth (33) and Prasuna (32), residents of Bhongir, who were married three years ago. The injured, identified as Shamukha (20), who was driving the car, and his friends Bhargava and Sairitu (both 18), sustained multiple injuries and are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Bhongir.

According to Bibinagar Inspector M. Prabhakar Reddy, the crash occurred around 8.45 a.m. when a speeding car carrying three occupants veered off the road and rammed into a two-wheeler parked by the roadside. Prashanth died on the spot, while Prasuna was thrown into a nearby pond and drowned.

The official said the couple had parked their two-wheeler on the roadside to attend a phone call while travelling towards Warangal. Meanwhile, the car, enroute to Yadagirigutta Temple, was being driven recklessly when the driver lost control and crashed into them.

Rescue personnel later recovered Prasuna’s body from the pond. Doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
