SSC revises disability certificate formats to simplify recruitment process

SSC recruitment 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially revised the formats for Disability Certificates used in its examinations, following recent guidelines issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).

The updated formats are expected to streamline verification procedures and bring uniformity across all SSC recruitment processes.According to the official SSC notification (F.No. 02/1/2022-RHQ), the Disability Certificates are now classified into two forms: Form V for Single Disability and Form VI for Multiple Disabilities. These two revised forms replace the earlier three forms, Form V, Form VI, and Form VII, that were previously in use.

The updated forms have been annexed to the official notice for candidate reference.

Alignment with DEPwD guidelines

The revision follows the DEPwD notification dated October 16, 2024, which emphasized the need for standardized certificate formats to ensure clarity and accessibility for candidates with disabilities. SSC’s adoption of these formats reflects a move to harmonize its procedures with national disability documentation guidelines.

The notification clarifies that candidates appearing for SSC examinations whose notices were issued after October 16, 2024, and whose recruitment processes are still ongoing, may submit Disability Certificates in either the revised formats (Form V or Form VI) or the earlier formats. This transitional arrangement ensures that candidates holding certificates under the previous system are not disadvantaged.

Impact on candidates and recruitment

The revised formats are set to affect candidates across multiple SSC examinations, including the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and other Group B and C recruitment drives. By consolidating certificate formats, the Commission aims to simplify submission and verification processes, reducing potential administrative confusion.Candidates are advised to carefully review the revised forms and ensure their submissions comply with SSC guidelines.

While certificates issued under older formats remain valid during this transitional period, the Commission encourages new applicants to adopt the updated forms to align with current requirements.

Administrative instructions

SSC has directed all regional and sub-regional offices to update recruitment-related notifications, application forms, and other official documents to reflect the revised certificate formats. Adherence to these instructions is critical to maintaining a smooth and transparent recruitment process.Candidates can click on the link provided here to download the official notification related to the disability certificate needed in the SSC exam.
