Gaya: Connivance between circle office staff and private internet cafe operators is behind the large number of pending online applications for land mutation and their settlement, officials said.

Gaya sadar, Manpur and Bodh Gaya circles have the highest number of pending mutation cases in the district.Presiding over the monthly review meeting of the revenue department on Thursday, DM Shashank Shubhankar said, “There are complaints that Bhudaan land is being distributed by making new certificates, while issuing new certificates has been stopped. A committee comprising additional collector (revenue) Paritosh Kumar, land reforms deputy collector Dilip Kumar Dhwaj and senior deputy collector and revenue department in-charge Anshu Kumari has been constituted to conduct an inquiry and compile a list of Bhudaan land available across the district.

He added, “It has come to notice that café owners feed their own mobile number in the online application, due to which the applicant remains deprived of proper information. Issue notice to the café owners that strict action will be taken if their mobile number is found mentioned in the application,” directing all circle officers accordingly. The DM further said it was observed during Janata Durbar hearings that the karmchari marks objections on applications and forwards them to the circle officer’s login, where the applications are kept pending without rejection.

This results in a surge in pending cases, with the highest numbers recorded in Gaya sadar, Manpur and Bodh Gaya.He also directed officials to ensure compliance with court orders passed in favour of applicants for possession of land, noting that such orders were not being implemented in several cases registered at the Janata Durbar. He fixed Jan 26 as the deadline for completing land measurements and making reports available to all applicants.
