Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) said that the State government is planning to provide global marketing facilities for products made by rural women.

She was addressing a State-level conference of presidents of the Mandal Federations of the Self-Help Group (SHG) held at Praja Bhavan here on Saturday,

Ms. Seethakka stated that the government is working towards strengthening women’s power and will organise extensive programmes across the State to mark the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi on November 19. The Minister also announced that special uniform sarees will be provided to members of the SHGs.

“The common woman’s existence is becoming more powerful with the membership of SHGs, and the State’s economy is strengthened with their participation,” Seethakka said, adding that the government is providing international-level marketing opportunities for rural women’s products, taking them towards the global market.

The Minister highlighted the success of Ippapuvva (Mahua) laddus made by Adilabad Adivasi women, which are gaining popularity abroad. She emphasised the government’s focus on providing a global market for local products, citing the expansion of Indira Mahila Shakti Bazaars to ensure national and international recognition for rural women’s products.

Ms. Seethakka administered a pledge to women’s organisations, focusing on social responsibility, including marrying girls only after 21, educating every girl child, opposing violence against women, and eradicating untouchability.

Ms. Seethakka later held a meeting with DRDOs and Additional DRDOs to review Indira Mahila Shakti programmes and provide suggestions for their strengthening.

The conference was attended by State Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada, State Women’s Co-operative Development Corporation Chairperson Bandru Shobharani, SERP CEO Divya Devarajan, and other officials.
