Panaji: The India meteorological department (IMD) has advised fisherfolk not to venture into the sea as it has forecast squally weather with strong winds reaching 40-50km per hour along and off the south Maharashtra-Goa coastline within 75km of the shore until June 20.These winds are expected to gust up to speeds of 60km per hour.Simultaneously, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (Incois) has issued a high wave warning specific to the Goa coastline, with waves reaching heights of 3.5m-3.8m.In North Goa, from Chapora to the state capital of Panaji, high waves are forecast to continue until June 20. Operators of small vessels have been advised against plying these waters.
Coastal erosion and wave surges are also possible in this area.On Thursday, the southwest monsoon was reported as weak over Goa, with very light to light rainfall at most locations and moderate rainfall at isolated spots.The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over Goa for the coming days, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places until June 25.
