It came two days after her mother, Candy Wyms Adams, passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday, July 28. Sonya posted a photo of her late mother with a simple but powerful caption: “Rest Easy Mom, we love you...”

The image quickly reached thousands of fans and followers. Many recognized Candy Adams as a quiet but important figure in the Curry family’s life. Family members had long spoken of her warm presence.

Candy Wyms Adams remembered at 76 - her life, legacy and what she meant to the Curry family

Candy Wyms Adams was born on May 6, 1949, in Radford, Virginia. She was 76 years old when she passed away peacefully on 28 July 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her parents were Evelyn Katherine Wyms and Walter Leonard Wyms.

She was lovingly called Moma, Ma, Granny, Granny Candy, and Granny Girl. Candy lived a full and joyful life. She went to Christiansburg Industrial Institute and later graduated from Radford High School. She also studied Secretarial Studies at New River Community College.Candy worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Later, she worked at Lake Norman Day School. She enjoyed writing poems, reading books, and making blankets for her grandkids.

She also liked watching crime shows, listening to music, drinking tea or coffee, and spending time on her iPad.More than anything, she enjoyed laughing, dancing, singing, and being around her family. She brought delight all over.Her family said she always showed love to everyone. Her favorite saying was, “Live and Let Live.”In previous interviews, Sonya Curry said her mother was her greatest role model. She taught her to be strong, kind-hearted and full of love.

Final prayers held in Radford, Virginia by Mullins Funeral Home

The Adams family entrusted Candy Wyms Adams’ final care to Mullins Funeral Home, located in Radford, Virginia. Her obituary was shared on the funeral home’s official site: www.mullinsfuneralhome.com.The family thanked everyone for the prayers and messages. They wrote, “Keep the stories coming, as they warm our hearts.
