Schools across Mysuru reopened on Friday after the summer holidays and students were welcomed with flowers and brief ceremonies in many places to help ease and resettle them for the rigours of academic works.
At Naganahalli in Chamundeshwari Assembly segment, G.T. Deve Gowda, MLA, took part in the taluk level reopening ceremony conducted at the local government school and urged the teachers to guide students to become responsible citizens of the country. Students should take part in academic and extracurricular activities as well, said the MLA and urged them to practice yoga and meditation.
Mr. Gowda noted that there was a demand for a government school in Yelwal and expressed hope that similar demands for schools would emerge from other places as well. Earlier, teachers and staff of the school welcomed the students with sweets.
At the government senior primary school in Vinayaknagar, students were welcomed with balloons and flowers. In Chamarajanagar district the commencement of the 2025-26 academic year was marked by a ceremony attended by C. Puttarangashetty, MLA, at the local government higher primary school.
Children were offered rose and sweets, and the MLA announced that the school would be upgraded to a high school to enable students to study till SSLC. At present, students who are enrolled at kindergarten, study till Class 7. Mr. Puttarangashetty promised infrastructure upgradation to the school and underlined the importance of education in nation building and for the future of the children.
In Chamaraja Assembly segment, Harish Gowda, MLA, visited the Maharni’s School on the Narayana Shastry Road and distributed books and uniforms to students. He called for higher enrolment of children and ensure that there were no dropouts. Along with free books and uniform, children are also served midday meals and students should make the best use of the facilities, he added.
