Raj B Shetty asks audiences not to expect a repeat; says, 'It will be the downfall'

Raj B Shetty starrer 'Su From So' has been a massive success at the box office, making it the biggest Kannada film of the year. Recently, the filmmaker requested audiences not to expect him and his team to repeat the same formula.

Celebrating success with fans

To celebrate the staggering success, Raj and his team, including director-actor JP Thuminad, have been traveling across Karnataka and beyond, meeting audiences who embraced the film so warmly. Their journey recently extended to the UAE, where they held meet-and-greet events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.According to a report by OTTPlay, Raj addressed the enthusiastic crowd, "Please don't expect us to make films like Su From So again," he said.

"The minute we start making similar films, we will end up chasing a success formula. That would be the downfall of the industry. What we want instead is to try something new with every cinema we make, in the hope that audiences will continue to support us."Raj explained that while making a sequel would be the easiest and most commercially viable route, it is not something the team wishes to pursue. He further mentioned that cinema has given them enough and requests the audience not to let them follow a pattern.

"Today, a former security Guard Raj B Shetty is a filmmaker- actor, JP Thuminad, a painter, is an actor-filmmaker, salesman Shaneel Gautham is a writer and actor - cinema has given us enough.

So, we seek your license, to be free, to be crazy and not let us follow a pattern," he said.

A record-breaking run

Released in Karnataka earlier this year, the film became a runaway hit and quickly crossed into Malayalam audiences after being dubbed, where it also garnered glowing praise. In just a little over a month, the Kannada version alone has grossed over Rs 100 crore, making it the highest-grossing Sandalwood film of 2025 so far.
