After a hot and sunny day, Hyderabad was battered by heavy rains on Sunday (September 14) evening, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls across several parts of the city. The downpour, which coincided with the holiday, disrupted weekend plans for many residents.
Waterlogging was reported from areas including Jubilee Hills, Tolichowki, Shaikpet nala, Biodiversity Junction, Raidurgam, Malakpet and Azamabad. The Hyderabad Traffic Police had to divert vehicles from Rethibowli towards Shaikpet nala and from Nanalnagar towards Langar Houz to ease congestion.
Police personnel from all three commissionerates — Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda — were deployed at key junctions to regulate traffic movement. Teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) were also pressed into service, working to clear waterlogged stretches.
