After a promising opening weekend, James Gunn’s Superman witnessed a sharp dip in box office earnings on its first Monday in India. According to early estimates from trade portal Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 2.25 crore on Day 4, bringing its total India net collection to approximately Rs 28.25 crore.The David Corenswet-led superhero reboot had a strong start, collecting Rs 7.25 crore on Day 1 (Friday) and picking up pace with Rs 9.5 crore on Saturday (Day 2). Sunday saw a slight dip but still delivered solid numbers with Rs 9.25 crore, capping off a successful opening weekend with Rs 26 crore net. Monday’s dramatic fall in numbers, a nearly 75% drop from Sunday, reflects the typical weekday slowdown.The Hindi dubbed version of Superman has contributed an estimated Rs 5.22 crore so far, while the English version continues to lead collections with approximately Rs 17.92 crore.
The remaining earnings have trickled in from Tamil and Telugu versions.Despite the Monday slump, Superman remains one of the better-performing Hollywood releases of the year in India, though it still trails behind Jurassic World Rebirth, which recently crossed the Rs 76 crore mark.Internationally, the film has been a major force at the box office. It opened to a stellar $122 million in North America, while collecting an additional $95 million from 78 international markets, including $6.6 million from China.With the weekdays ahead, and no new major release this weekend, the film can look forward to crossing the Rs 50 crore mark in the days ahead. Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi in supporting roles.
