Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil will perform the State-level inauguration of Christmas-New Year fairs organised by Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. (Supplyco) at Nayanar Park, Putharikandam grounds, here on Monday.
The fairs will be on till December 31. In six districts, the fairs will be held at special locations – Putharikandam grounds in Thiruvananthapuram, Ashramam grounds in Kollam, Rose Mount auditorium in Pathanamthitta, Thirunakkara grounds in Kottayam, Marine Drive in Ernakulam, and Thekkinkadu grounds in Thrissur.
One prime Supplyco outlet in each taluk in the State will host a Christmas fair.
The fair will provide special offers on more than 280 products from major brands and discount of 5% to 50% on branded everyday use items. The 20 of kg rice currently provided by Supplyco will be available for ₹25 at the fairs.
Those purchasing non-subsidised items above ₹500 will be given 1 kg Sabari salt for ₹1.
Special kits comprising 12 items will be available under the name Santa offer in connection with Christmas in Supplyco outlets from December 22. Cake, sugar, tea leaves, payasam mix, Sabari appam powder, and masalas are included in the ₹667-kit that will now be available at ₹500.
Supplyco will offer special coupons to customers in connection with Christmas. These will be given to two-wheeler and autorickshaw drivers who fill fuel to the tune of ₹250 from Supplyco petrol pumps and other vehicles that fill fuel worth over ₹1,000. These coupons can be produced when purchasing subsidised products to the tune of ₹1,000 to get a discount of ₹50.
Signature mart, a modern shopping mall from Supplyco, will begin operations next month. A Signature Mart will be inaugurated at Thalassery on January 10 and another at Kottayam in the third week of January.
The last date for submitting applications online for converting ration cards into priority category has been extended to December 31, a statement from the Minister’s office said on Saturday.
