Tajinderpal Singh Toor won the shot put at the Indian Grand Prix with an 18.93m throw.,setting the stage for the Inter-State Senior National Championships.

Two-time Asian Games gold medallist shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured first place in the third leg of the Indian Grand Prix on Saturday, setting the stage for an exciting Inter-State Senior National Championships in Chennai later this month.

The 30-year-old threw the iron ball a distance of 18.93 metres at Guru Nanak Stadium, positioning himself favourably for the Chennai meet from August 20-24, which will be the final qualification event for the Tokyo World Athletics Championships in September.

Hangzhou Asian Games medallist Vithya Ramraj from Tamil Nadu claimed the women’s 400m hurdles title, while Maharashtra’s Sarvesh Anil Kushare comfortably won the men’s high jump.

Promising javelin thrower Yashvir Singh from Rajasthan took first place with a throw of 77.79m.
