EPS reveals AIADMK’s main poll promise

COIMBATORE: The govt would buy land and construct concrete houses for dalits and poor people after the AIADMK comes to power in the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Thursday.

He said this would be the AIADMK's main election promise.Palaniswami was speaking at a road show at Madathukulam in Tirupur district. He said during the previous AIADMK govt, a committee was constituted to study the feasibility to implement the Annamalaiyar-Nallar project. "Former AIADMK minister SP Velumani, MLA Pollachi Jayaraman and I met Kerala chief minister and discussed the implementation of Anamaliyar -Nallar scheme.

Officials from Kerala visited Tamil Nadu, and our officials also visited Kerala.

Meanwhile, the DMK came to power and did not take any step to implement the project," he said.Palaniswami added that DMK and Communist parties are part of the India bloc, and DMK could easily take steps to implement the project as both the parties are in the India bloc. "DMK has a seven-month period to rule the state. Meanwhile, the party can start talks with the Kerala govt to implement the Annamalaiyar -Nallar project.

If the DMK govt fails to implement the project, the farmers won't cast their votes to DMK," said Palaniswami.Later, EPS addressed party cadres at Dharapuram and said the DMK had closed more than 2,000 Amma mini clinics. “After coming back to power in 2026, the AIADMK govt will open 4,000 Amma mini clinics across the state for the welfare of the people.”He said, “The DMK is involved in many wrongdoings. But its alliance parties do not talk against it. Why are the alliance parties forced to bear the DMK's wrongdoings and mistakes? Leaders of the allies should be very cautious, and they should question if the ruling party is involved in wrongdoings.”
