Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had a cordial and positive exchange during the Lok Sabha Speaker’s tea party held at the conclusion of the winter session of Parliament.

The tea party, lasting about 20 minutes, saw a noticeably warmer atmosphere compared to the previous session. All major opposition leaders attended this time, unlike the earlier boycott of the Speaker’s tea party. In the absence of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi represented the Congress, while Prime Minister Modi attended after returning from a demanding three-nation foreign tour.

The Speaker’s tea party is a long-standing parliamentary tradition aimed at easing tensions after intense debates and confrontations during the session. Senior leaders from across parties gather in the Speaker’s chamber to restore a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect.
