Metro services on the Yellow Line experienced delays on Saturday evening after a technical issue was reported in one of the trains, officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said.

According to the BMRCL, the disruption began around 4.45 p.m., when a train on the Yellow Line developed a technical snag. Following the incident, services on the corridor were operated at a reduced frequency of around 19 minutes instead of the scheduled 15 minutes, resulting in longer waiting times for commuters at stations along the stretch.

Several passengers were seen waiting for extended periods on platforms as trains arrived less frequently. However, officials said the impact was relatively limited as passenger footfall on the Yellow Line was lower compared to weekdays.

In an initial statement, the BMRCL said its technical teams were attending to the issue and efforts were under way to restore normal services at the earliest. “Our teams are actively working to resume normal operations shortly,” the BMRCL said in a release issued in the evening.

However, the officials later in the night confirmed that the affected train could not be inducted back into service on Sunday. As a result, the revised frequency continued for the remainder of the day.
