A 15-year-old boy was reportedly killed in a train accident near Nelamangala, on the northern outskirts of Bengaluru, on Friday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Yogendra, a Class 9 student studying at a private school on the city’s outskirts. The incident occurred around 7 a.m., according to a railway police officer.
Family members told the police that Yogendra had left home early in the morning without informing anyone. The incident came to light after a railway beat constable noticed the body near the tracks and alerted officials, following which the boy’s family was traced.
“We have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. At this stage, it is unclear why he was near the railway tracks,” the officer said.
