Telangana government has established Telangana Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub (TAIH) as part of the State’s emphasis on facilitating measures to make most of the growth opportunities in the emerging technology.

The goal

The primary goal behind setting up TAIH is to ensure that by 2035 Telangana finds a place among the top 20 AI hubs in the world. The hub will serve as a focal point for AI-based innovation, research and collaboration across multiple sectors, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said on Tuesday (November 4). The Special Chief Secretary (IT), Commissioner of MeeSeva and Joint Director of Emerging Technologies will serve as its members, he said, announcing the setting up of the Innovation Hub.

That the future belongs entirely to Artificial Intelligence is an undeniable reality, he said, adding how the State government is keen on developing Telangana as a destination for AI research and innovation. “We are building a comprehensive AI ecosystem that will make Telangana the first name that comes to mind when people think of Artificial Intelligence in India. Guided by the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the AI Innovation Hub has now taken final shape,” the Minister declared.

Eyeing transformative results

The development assumes significance also in the context of the State aspiring to achieve transformative results in public service delivery, healthcare, transportation and education through AI-powered solutions. “We are integrating AI into e-Governance to improve efficiency, citizen experience and transparency in administration. Telangana is creating an enabling ecosystem that positions it as a national leader in technology adoption and innovation,” Mr. Sridhar Babu said.

“We have forged strategic partnerships with premier academic and research institutions such as IIIT, BITS Pilani, ISB, NALSAR, IIT Hyderabad, and C-DAC, alongside global technology leaders including Google, Microsoft, Infosys, and Amazon,” he said.

Telangana had successfully hosted the AI Global Summit in 2024, in the process becoming the first State in the country to organise an event of such magnitude. Telangana also takes pride in establishing its own Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and operationalising the Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX) platform, the Minister’s office said in a release.

Section 8 company to steer activities

Sources said TAIH will accelerate the momentum of the government’s Al vision and position the State among the top 20 global Al Hubs by 2035 recognised for innovation, research, commercialisation and global impact. It will be an institution that unifies State’s Al initiatives, attract world-class talent, incubate next-gen startups and drive Al adoption across sectors. Towards ensuring transparency in the operations, the State government has decided to form a company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.

The Directors of the proposed company have been tasked to devise necessary strategies in setting up initial phase of the incubator as well as ensure the speedy implementation of TAIH.
