In a major policy decision, the Telangana Government has decided to close down operations at all the Transport department check posts on all the highways with immediate effect.
The order follows the decision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy who wanted a comprehensive report on the closure of check posts before Wednesday (October 22, 2025) evening. Accordingly, orders have been issued to district transport officers to remove all the boards and barricades of the check posts and display new boards in relevant language announcing the closure of the check post and details of availability of online services to vehicle operators.
The staff currently posted at the check posts should be redeployed to the respective deputy transport commissioner ensuring that no personnel remains stationed at the check posts. Officers concerned were directed to remove all physical barriers, barricades and signage installed at the check post sites to ensure unobstructed movement of vehicles.
The entire removal process should be recorded on video with footage preserved and forwarded along with the compliance report. Steps should be taken to move all records, furniture, equipment, computers and movable assets from the check post to the DTO offices immediately.
Besides, officials should reconcile all financial and administrative records including cashbooks, receipts, challans and preserve the records. They should ensure adequate public notice at the locations to avoid inconvenience to vehicle operators besides furnishing compliance report confirming closure, staff redeployment, reconciliation of records and inventory details to the Transport Commissioner by 5 pm on Wednesday (October 22, 2025).
