A long-simmering rivalry between two rowdy-sheeters turned fatal on Wednesday (November 5, 2025) evening when one of them was hacked to death in full public view at the Jagadgirigutta bus stop.

The victim, Roshan, 24, a resident of Jagadgirigutta and a rowdy-sheeter under both Balanagar and Jagadgirigutta police stations, was attacked by another rowdy-sheeter, Baleshwar Reddy, 24, from the same area. Mr. Reddy, accompanied by his associates Mohammad and Adi, assaulted Roshan with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot.

Police initially registered an attempt to murder case after the attack left Roshan grievously injured. However, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital, prompting the police to alter the charges to murder.

According to Balanagar ACP P. Naresh Reddy, the two men had been at odds over control of prostitution networks operating in the locality. A dispute over local dominance had been brewing for some time, the officer said.

Investigators said Mr. Reddy and his associates arrived at the bus stop on a motorcycle as part of a premeditated plan to eliminate Roshan. Locals and motorists, terrified by the violence, did not intervene as the assailants fled, leaving Roshan bleeding on the road.

Further investigation is underway.
