TSRTC bus axle breaks after hitting pothole; 38 passengers safe as mishap averted

HYDERABAD: A major mishap was averted in Vikarabad district on Sunday morning after the axle rod of a hired TSRTC bus carrying 38 passengers broke, bringing the vehicle to a sudden stop and causing panic among those on board. RTC staff quickly reached the spot, repaired the broken axle rod, and allowed the bus to continue its journey. Officials confirmed that no passengers were injured. According to reports, the bus was attached to the Tandur depot in Vikarabad district and was heading to Mahabubnagar. While passing through Yalal town, the bus hit a large pothole and came to a halt with a loud noise. The driver immediately asked passengers to get off the bus.

On inspection, it was found that the front axle rod had snapped. “Mechanics attended to the bus and fixed the rod,” said an official from the Tandur depot. TSRTC has ordered an inquiry into the incident, while police have not yet registered any case.
