Temperature drops, Mormugao records lowest of 18.8 degrees celsius

Panaji: Goa experienced a slight drop in temperature as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 18.8 degrees celsius at Mormugao on Thursday morning, marking the lowest reading.

The decline coincides with the approaching Christmas season and peak winter period in the region.Panaji registered a minimum temperature of 19 degrees celsius on Thursday, which was nearly two degrees below normal. The previous day saw temperatures at 19.4 degrees celsius, marking 1.4 degrees below normal in the city.Temperature data is publicly shared only from two centres—Panaji and Mormugao—with Panaji’s readings considered representative for the entire state.Mormugao showed fluctuating temperatures over recent days. The port town recorded a maximum temperatures of 33.8 degrees celsius and 34 degrees celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday, approximately one degree above normal. Its minimum temperatures were 19 degrees celsius and 18.8 degrees celsius on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.In comparison, Panaji recorded a maximum temperatures of 31.9 degrees celsius and 33.8 degrees celsius The IMD’s Panaji centre has predicted maximum temperatures between 33-34 degrees celsius for the next few days. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 19-20 degrees celsius for two days, followed by 20-21 degrees celsius for the subsequent three days.The weather conditions are creating pleasant winter conditions across the state as Christmas approaches.
