Facing LPG shortages, Prayagraj street vendor Aman Gupta innovated a "magical stove" running on waste engine oil. This resourceful solution allows his jalebi business to operate smoothly, demonstrating how crisis can spark sustainable alternatives and inspire others to find their own paths to success.
We often forget that man-made innovations can always have alternatives. A brain that can create one technology to make life easier can also create other innovations for alternatives.
Currently, when LPG shortages have raised eyebrows across India and caused an acute crisis, some individuals are finding smart alternatives that can help them survive competitively and profitably in the market. The story of Aman Gupta, a street vendor from Prayagraj who sells jalebi, is an inspiration for millions struggling with the crisis and are still in search of an efficient alternative. What is a magical stove?Aman, who runs a popular jalebi stall in Prayagraj, turned crisis into innovation by building a “magical stove” that runs on waste engine oil.
Amid concerns over LPG availability, this solution has not only made his business smooth but has also grabbed attention, after an ANI video interview of his stall went viral.

In his interview with ANI, Aman mentioned that he devised the unconventional solution after his shop was forced to shut for four days due to difficulty procuring gas cylinders during panic-driven demand. As they say, where there is a will, there is a way.
Hence, instead of pondering upon the crisis and indulging in the blame game like other vendors in the area, Aman decided to create his own path to success and rewrite his destiny.
And determined to keep his business going, he experimented with an idea he came across online in a YouTube video. What next? He boosted his morale and eventually created a stove powered by discarded "burnt mobil". And the result was not just surprising but satisfying too.
He mentioned in a statement that the experiment helped him attain a steady flame comparable to an LPG stove, but fuelled by waste oil collected from local vehicle service stations. For Aman, it is more satisfying that he is not harming any natural resource for his business rather he is using a waste to run his business, which is more of a sustainable appraoch.“The flame is just as effective, and I am able to run my business without depending on gas cylinders,” Aman said, expressing satisfaction with his innovation.
He now collects waste oil from local vehicle service stations and uses it efficiently to sustain his daily operations. It has also helped boost his confidence in crisis management and he feels he is prepared to deal with such situations with more constructive approach.

How does it work?According to Aman, mobile is a boon in present time as it helped him gain this alternative to survive his jalebi business. He mentioned in the video interview that he first made a small experimentation unit using mobil and then when it became successful, he made it bigger and is now running his business with it He also mentioned that apart from mobil, diesel and kerosene oil can also be used to produce fuel to run the gas stove. What has happened after his innovationThe innovation has quickly drawn attention in the locality, with residents praising the vendor’s ingenuity and resilience. Regular customers say his solution could inspire others facing similar challenges. The development comes amid wider concerns over LPG supply disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia and global energy routes like the Strait of Hormuz, prompting calls for alternative fuel solutions and greater reliance on PNG in urban areas. What does his innovation teach us?Aman's innovation is a reminder that when used right, technology and social media can be a pathbreaker and a constructive guide in finding solutions to real life problems. All you need to have is right intentions and work hard with honesty and sincerity.
