The day-long ‘Ganesh Nimajjanotsavam’ event passed off peacefully in Tirupati with thousands of idols of the elephant-headed god immersed into the ‘Vinayaka Sagar’ water body on Karakambadi Road here on Sunday (August 31, 2025).

The Tirupati Varasiddhi Vinayaka Mahotsava Committee, which had been conducting the event for the last 24 years in the city, has made elaborate arrangements this year in consultation with the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT), the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA), the traffic wing of the police department, the TTD, electricity and fire departments.

The committee arranged five routes for the processions viz., one for the railway station and bus station area via Korlagunta junction, second one for Balaji colony and Krishnapuram Thana via Tilak Road, the third one for Giripuram and Theertha Katta street via Railway colony, Alipiri and Khadi colony via Leela Mahal junction and finally, the fifth and farthest route of M.R. Palle and Bairagipatteda via Ramanuja Circle and Leela Mahal.

The coordinated effort ensured that the processions from across the city reached the water body in a hassle-free manner. “The timings of the start of processions are also staggered in such a way to ensure minimal disruption to traffic not only on the arterial roads, but also at the culmination point, i.e., Vinayaka Sagar,” said the festival committee convenor Samanchi Srinivas.
