Three held with 201g heroin in Cachar anti-drug drive

Silchar: Continuing its crackdown on drug trade, Cachar Police seized 201 grams of heroin and arrested three peddlers during an operation in the Poilapool area under Lakhipur police station on Thursday.Acting on a tip-off, a team from Cachar police launched the operation and intercepted the suspects, recovering the contraband packed in 15 soap cases worth around Rs 1.5 crore. The arrested individuals were taken to the police station for interrogation.Police said the trio were being questioned to trace the supply chain and identify others involved in the racket. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found connected with this drug network,” a senior police officer said.The latest seizure adds to a series of successful operations carried out by Cachar police in recent weeks as part of their intensified anti-narcotics campaign in the Barak Valley.
