Three Telangana districts cross 46 Celsius

The intensity of the heatwave in Telangana showed signs of easing with fewer districts recording temperatures above 46 Celsius compared to previous days.

According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), three locations in the State recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 46 C on Friday. 

Dahegaon in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad was the hottest location in the State recording a maximum temperature of 46.3 C. This was followed by 46.2 C in Bellampally (Mancherial) and Ramagundam (Peddapalli).

The districts which recorded temperatures between 45 C and 46 C are - 45.6 C in Khanapur (Nirmal), 45.4 C in Raikal (Jagtial), Munagala (Suryapet), 45.2 C in Khammam (Khammam), Dornakal (Mahabubabad), Venkatapur (Mulugu) and Sangem (Warangal).

The districts which recorded temperatures between 44 C and 45 C are - 44.7 C in Kothapallygori (Jayashankar Bhupalpally), 44.6 C in Mosra (Nizamabad), 44.5 C in Damera (Hanumakonda), Jammikunta (Karimnagar), 44.2 C in Dummugudem (Bhadradri Kothagudem) and 44.1 C in Boath (Adilabad).

In urban locations, Musheerabad in Hyderabad and Uppal in Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 42.2 C - followed by 41.8 C in Saroornagar (Rangareddy).

Thunderstorm forecast

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm forecast in 14 districts for Sunday, May 31.

According to IMDs latest bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a partly cloudy sky.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 41 C and 29 C respectively,” the bulletin said.
