Thrissur to host 64th Kerala School Arts Festival

Thrissur is gearing up to host the 64th Kerala School Arts Festival, widely regarded as Asia’s largest cultural festival for school students. The five-day event will be held from January 14 to 18 bringing together thousands of young artistes from across the State.

Competitions will be conducted at 25 venues, including the main stage at Thekkinkadu Maidan. The festival will be formally inaugurated at 10 a.m. on January 14 at Thekkinkadu Maidan by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The closing ceremony will take place on January 18, with Malayalam actor Mohanlal attending as the chief guest.

Events such as Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam and Nadodi Nritham will be staged at the main venue, Thekkinkadu Maidan. The Sanskrit Kalolsavam will be held at the 13th venue, Jawahar Balabhavan, while the Arabic Kalolsavam will take place at the 16th and 17th venues at CMS Higher Secondary School, Thrissur.

Dining facility

A common dining facility for participants and guests will be set up on Palace ground. Registration facilities will be available at the Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thrissur,while the programme office will function from the Government Model GVHSS, Thrissur.

The festival is being organised under the leadership of Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty, and Minister for Higher Education R. Bindu, with Revenue Minister K. Rajan serving as the chairperson of the organising committee.

Competitions will be held in 239 items over five days, including 96 items in the high school section, 105 in the higher secondary section, 19 items in the Sanskrit Kalolsavam and 19 items in the Arabic Kalolsavam. The schedule has been designed to ensure convenience for participants while also offering an engaging experience for spectators.

Organisers have appealed for public cooperation to make the festival a success that reflects Thrissur’s rich cultural heritage.

The official logo of the fete, designed by Anil Gopan, blends Kerala’s vibrant artistic traditions with symbols representing Thrissur’s cultural unity. The logo was released by Mr. Sivankutty on Saturday.
