President Donald Trump remembers Charlie Kirk ahead of talks with China’s Xi Jinping

President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to finalise a deal that would allow the popular short-video app TikTok to continue operating in the United States.

The call may also pave the way for a future in-person meeting between the two leaders, according to reports.Speaking to Fox News, Trump said the two sides were “very close to deals on all of it.” He expressed confidence in his relationship with China and confirmed, “it sounds like they’ve approved TikTok.”

TikTok has tremendous value: Trump

Trump also highlighted the app's value and its role in his election campaign.“I like TikTok. It helped get me elected,” Trump said. “In fact, Charlie [Kirk] said, 'Sir, you want to get on TikTok.

You’d be great.' I said, 'Really, tell me about TikTok.' And we, as you know, we did unbelievably well with youth, like at a level that no Republican has ever been dreamed of... that was a reason we won the election by such a big number.”The president reiterated that he has the specific right to approve the deal and that the investors are "the biggest, the richest, and they'll do a great job." “And you’ll have a lot of very unhappy youth… I’d rather reap the benefits.

I mean, the kind of money is very substantial, and it’ll be owned by all American investors,” he added.“And probably that's why we were able to get that, but on a much bigger scale. We're pretty close to it. We may do an extension with China, but it's an extension based on the same terms. We have right now, which are pretty good terms,” Trump added.
