Toddler dies after falling from balcony

An infant fell from the balcony of a two-storeyed residential building at Weavers’ Colony in Gottigere on Saturday and succumbed to injuries on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Vehanth, 3, son of Vinod Kumar and Kavya, who were residents of 10th Cross, Weavers’ Colony.

According to police, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. when Vehanth was playing in the balcony with his mother. Kavya went inside the house after her brother-in-law’s sister asked for help in the kitchen, leaving the child unattended for a few minutes. During this time, Vehanth reportedly climbed a two-foot parapet wall and fell from the second floor.

He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a hospital. Despite efforts to revive him, Vehanth succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning. The Konanakunte police have registered a case.
