Panaji: The tourism department has penalised Kapil Arora, a Mumbai resident, for organising Oceanman in Goa without prior approval. He has been fined Rs 50,000, payable within 15 days.
The tourist warden posted at Caranzalem beach has been placed under suspension for negligence, dereliction of duty, and failure to report the event in accordance with standing instructions.“No permission was granted for the swimming event. Vehicles involved will be impounded, fines will be imposed, and an FIR will be filed, ” said tourism director Kedar Naik. Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte said, “Goa’s beaches are not only vital tourism assets but also sensitive community spaces. Strict action will continue to be taken against those who violate established norms, ensuring that Goa remains a safe, orderly, and sustainable destination.
