 Investigation Underway in Garhwa District

Garhwa: The bodies of a man and a woman were recovered from Parsaha More near Garhwa-Shahpur Road in Garhwa district on Saturday. A pistol and a knife were found from the spot, police said.The deceased have been identified as Sumit Kumar (26), a resident of Semratand village under the Chainpur police station limits of Palamu district, and Kriti Kumari (24), a resident of Sagalim village under Panki police station limits of the Palamu district, police added.Quoting deceased woman’s father Shivnath Ram, officer in-charge of the Garhwa police station Sunil Kumar Tiwary said, “Kriti was married to one Santosh Kumar Chandravanshi, a resident of Daltonganj, in 2018.

They have two children. She have been living with her parents for the past one month.”“Kriti had gone to a ration shop on Friday, but did not return home. She told her parents over the phone that she would return the next day as somebody was ill in her in-law’s house. She rang them on Saturday around 12.30am and said that she had been attacked with a knife and a youth had shot himself,” he added.“The bodies have been sent to the Garhwa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Prima facie, it appears that they were in a relationship. Probe is on to ascertain the causes of death,” OC Tiwary added.
