Railway mishap near Bilaspur station in Chhattisgarh: A MEMU local train travelling from Gevra Road to Bilaspur collided with a goods train between Gatora and Bilaspur around 4 pm

A passenger train collided with a goods train near the Bilaspur railway station in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
The MEMU local train (No. 68733) was travelling from Gevra Road to Bilaspur when it collided with a goods train on the up line between Gatora and Bilaspur around 4 pm. Train services on the route have been stopped, and several express and passenger trains have been cancelled or diverted following the accident.

The railway authorities have moved all the resources at the spot, and all measures are being taken to treat the injured persons, they said.
A look at the railway accidents of 2025:
July 8: Three students were killed and four others, including the van driver, were injured as Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai passenger train hit a school van at a non-interlocked manned level crossing between Capper Quarry and Alapakkam railway stations in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
June 21: One railway worker was killed and four passengers were injured as Dibrugarh-bound Avadh Assam Express collided with a maintenance trolley near Semapur Train Station in Bihar.
June 9: Five people were killed and nine were injured after several people riding on the outside of two passing Mumbai local trains collided with each other and fell off after experiencing a sudden jerk on a sharp curve near the Mumbra railway station.
April 1: Three people including the two loco pilots were charred to death after a fire triggered by a head-on collision between two freight trains. A coal-laden freight train travelling from Lalmatia Colliery to Farakka Super Thermal Power Station crashed into an empty stationary freight train on a railway line owned, managed and signalled by the NTPC in Barhait, Sahibganj district of Jharkhand.
March 30: At least 11 coaches of the Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi station in Cuttack district of Odisha, leaving several dead and injured.
February 15: At least 20 people were killed and several injured in a stampede at New Delhi railway station when confusing announcements resulted in a rush to board a train for Prayagraj to attend 2025 Prayag Maha Kumbh Mela.
January 22: At least 12, including seven from Nepal, were killed and 15 were injured when some of the passengers of Pushpak Express disembarked onto an adjacent railway line in Jalgaon following a false fire alarm and were hit by the incoming Karnataka Express.
