Police officers of different cadres paid tributes to Potti Sriramulu on his 73th death anniversary, on Monday. Revered as ‘Amarajeevi’, Potti Sriramulu sacrificed his life for the formation of Andhra Pradesh.
Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta paid homage to Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu at the A.P. police headquarters at Mangalagiri. Meanwhiile, NTR Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu garlanded the portrait of Potti Sriramulu at the Commissionerate, and recalled the sacrifice made by the leader.
In Eluru district, Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Kishore offered tributes to the freedom fighter at the district police headquarters. Speaking on the occasion, the SP said the State achieved separate Statehood after Potti Sriramulu sacrificed his life observing fast unto death for 58 days.
Eluru District Additional SP (Armed Reserve) G. Muniraju and other officers were also present during the occasion.
