Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday (December 19, 2025) spoke on the developing situation in Bangladesh, expressing concern over violent incidents and what he described as a sharp deterioration in law and order since deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the neighbouring country.

He said the State government was prepared to deal with any situation emerging out of developments in Bangladesh, given that Tripura shares its border with the country on three sides.

“We have all been aware of the security situation in Bangladesh from the time former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country. Convicts involved in various serious crimes were released from prisons,” Dr. Saha said during an interaction with journalists here.

He, however, noted that the situation in Bangladesh was an international issue and said the State government was communicating its concerns to the Centre.

The Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, said security had been tightened along the border. He added that the central government was aware of the situation.
