Amid his packed schedule focused on Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations, US President Donald Trump made time to inspect the newly installed speaker system at the renovated Rose Garden on the White House grounds.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared a video on X, giving a sweeping view of the updated Rose Garden. The space now features tile flooring, formal seating arrangements, and lush green bushes lining the area, all while music plays in the background. Leavitt captioned the post, “We are testing the speakers for what will be the greatest event in the history of the White House! – President Trump."

Another clip shared by White House Communications Director Dylan Johnson shows President Trump personally inspecting the speaker setup as music echoes through the space.

The decision to revamp the iconic Rose Garden was made by President Trump shortly after he returned to office for his second term in January. One of the most notable changes was the removal of the central grass patch, which has been replaced with stone tiles. Trump explained the decision in a March interview with Fox News, saying, “You know, we use [the Rose Garden] for press conferences, and …. every event you have, it’s soaking wet, and the women with the high heels, it’s just too much."

Although the redesign sparked some opposition, Trump proceeded with the renovation. The updated garden was officially unveiled on Friday, August 1, under the supervision of the National Park Service. In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, a new drainage system was installed to prevent water from collecting in the center of the garden.

The Rose Garden, located along the West Terrace between the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room, was originally developed as a formal garden by First Lady Ellen Wilson in 1913 with the assistance of landscape architect George Burnap.

This renovation marks just one aspect of Trump’s broader plans for the White House. He has also announced intentions to build a grand ballroom on the premises. On June 6, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, stating the ballroom would be a “wonderful addition" to the White House.

“These are the ‘fun’ projects I do while thinking about the World Economy, the United States, China, Russia, and lots of other Countries, places, and events," he wrote.
