Dylan O’Brien on the reception that ‘Twinless’ has received since its release
While in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor shared that he was a little bit worried about the kind of reception the film would receive, stating that “We’re in the safe-decision era. If something is financially bankable and predictable in terms of an IP, then that’s way more likely to get a green light than something like ‘Twinless’, where you can’t say for sure if an audience is going to go along for the ride”.He continued, saying that he was extremely happy with the kind of response the film received, even when the “whole town” rejected his and James Sweeney’s film from the get go. He revealed that people were often taken aback by the character’s flaws, and if they have any redeemable or “forgiveable” qualities in them or not. He cited that a lot of people in the industry now approach films with a mindset about whether it will “turn the audience off” or not.
He also added, “At the end of the day, we really constructed an intimate and personal-feeling piece. So I’m really proud that it’s gotten the response that it has so far”.
