Bokaro: Two men were arrested with a country-made pistol and live ammunition for allegedly killing a jawan of the India Reserve Battalion last month, the police said on Thursday.

On October 27, Ajay Kumar (28) was gunned down in Gayghat Adarsh Colony in Chas.

The police said its special investigation team (SIT) on Wednesday arrested Balram Tiwari (25), and Suraj Kumar alias Pappu Kumar (21) from Dhanbad in connection to Ajay’s murder. Prima facie probe has revealed that the duo killed Ajay over a woman. A FIR in this case was lodged by Ajay’s father Laxmi Narayan Yadav. Police said Balram had an affair with a woman. Recently, another man, identified as Ankit Kumar Mandal, began communication with the woman. Infuriated, Balram got hold of Ankit on October 27 and was thrashing him when Ajay, who was present nearby, intervened. Ajay slapped Balram to stop the scuffle. “Seething with rage, Balram left the scene, fetched a pistol from his home, and returned to shoot Ajay dead, said Chas DSP Praveen Kumar Singh.
