Two convicted for raping minor in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru

A Chikkamagaluru court convicted two people accused of raping a minor girl and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, besides penalty.

The convicted are identified as Kiran Nayak, 21, and Abhishek Naik, 23. The Kadur Police had registered a case under the POCSO Act in November 2023 against them on charges of raping a minor girl.

Kadur Police Inspector K.R. Shivakumar conducted the investigation, and filed a charge sheet at the POCSO court in Chikkamagaluru.

”The court slapped a penalty of ₹41,000 on one of the accused, and ₹11,000 on the other. Moreover, a compensation of ₹1 lakh was announced for the victim. Special prosecutor Bharath Kumar represented the prosecution,” said a press release issued by the Chikkamgaluru Police on Saturday.

Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police Vikram Amathe appreciated the officials who conducted the investigation.
