Two drown in Cauvery at Kumbakonam

Two persons drowned in the Cauvery at Kumbakonam on Sunday.

According to sources, Rajesh, 25, of Moopakovil, Kumbakonam, went to the river along with his friends to have a bath on Sunday afternoon. He was washed away in the heavy tide in the river. His body was retrieved by the Fire and Rescue Department personnel from the river bank near the Government District Headquarters Hospital on Monday morning.

Pandian, 56, of Perumandi North Street, Kumbakonam drowned while taking bath in the river at Mela Cauvery area on Sunday evening. His body was retrieved from the river by the public. The Kumbakonam East Police are investigating the cases, sources added.
