Two held in Palamu for beating para-teacher, robbing valuables

Daltonganj: Two men were arrested for breaking into the home of a para-teacher, assaulting her and looting ornaments and other valuables last month, the police said on Thursday.

Those arrested were identified as Neeraj Kumar and Dipu.

Three others involved in the incident are still at large.Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan said five men entered the home of Mrityunjay Prasad in Kukhi village in the intervening hours of Nov 20-21. Prasad’s wife Anita Devi works as a para-teacher in the govt school in the village.Hussainabad subdivisional police officer Mohammad Yakub said, “Anita reportedly insulted Neeraj quite often.

Enraged, Neeraj decided to teach her a lesson. He roped in Dipu, a native of Kukhi village, who in turn hired three others.”The men allegedly beat up Anita and looted ornaments and other valuables. Prasad lodged an FIR on Nov 21. Police lodged the case under sections of attempt to murder, criminal intimidation among other against unknown people to begin probe. During the probe, Haidernagar police arrested Neeraj. Neeraj then led the cops to Dipu.

Police said that among the culprits, Vikki has four cases against him in Bihar and one case in Chhattisgarh. “He is already in jail in Bihar since December 2 this year in another case. We will take him on remand,” said SP, adding that they are on lookout for three more now. A stolen mobile phone, a country-made pistol and two bullets were recovered from the accused.
