Two labourers electrocuted while removing canopy outside bike showroom in Bengaluru

Two labourers were electrocuted and two others sustained injuries after they came in contact with a high-tension wire when they were removing the canopy outside a two-wheeler showroom on Hosa Road in Electronics City on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Hasan Ali and Abdul Khayyum, were working for the BMS Tent House situated in Singasandra. The injured Mumrej Ali, 20, and Mohidul Islam, 27, were admitted to a nearby hospital and are recovering.

Based on the statement by Mumraj Ali, one of the injured, the police have charged the showroom management and the BMS Tent House owner for failing to take safety measures. They have been charged under Sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 125 (Endangering life or personal safety of others).

Mumraj Ali, one of the injured, in his complaint, said that four of them were asked to get the furniture and canopy material hired by the showroom for a programme. They went to the showroom and were removing the canopy when the iron pillars came in contact with the high-tension wire passing -by.

They fell on the ground and were rushed to a hospital, where Hasan and Khayyum succumbed.
