The Red Sandalwood Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) officials arrested two red sanders smugglers and seized 19 logs from them in the Puttur forest area of Tirupati district on Monday.

As per the action plan of RSASTF Head L. Subbarayudu and SP P. Srinivas, the team, including RI Sai Giridhar and ARSI N. Sridhar Reddy, conducted combing operations at Kailasakona under the guidance of DSP Md. Shareef in the Puttur forest area on Sunday.

When the team reached the vicinity of Kannikalamma temple on Singarakona road near Narayanavanam, they saw two persons there. After seeing the police, the two tried to flee, but were chased and surrounded by the RSASTF team.

The RSASTF officials found 19 red sanders logs. They seized the logs and arrested the two persons, who were later identified as the locals. They were taken to Tirupati Task Force police station. DSP Srinivasulu Reddy and ACF Srinivas interrogated them. SI Rafi registered a case and the investigation is on.
