Two individuals were arrested by the Mangalhat police on Friday (December 19) in connection with a chain-snatching case. Officials seized gold chain weighing two tolas and worth ₹2.48 lakh from their possession.

The accused were identified as Upadi Bolenath, also known as U. Bholanath, 42, a shoeshiner and Mohammed Khadeer, also known as Khader, 26, an auto driver, both residents of Hyderabad.

Police said a check of records revealed that both men are habitual offenders with a long criminal history. Bolenath has been involved in as many as 70 cases, while Khadeer has been linked to 66 cases registered across various police stations.

During interrogation, the duo confessed to their involvement in 11 additional cases, including five cases within the Hyderabad commissionerate, five in the Cyberabad commissionerate and one under the Rachakonda commissionerate. Bolenath also confessed to one more case registered at Attapur.

The arrests were made by a team from Mangalhat police station after collecting technical evidence. The accused are being produced before the court for judicial remand. Further investigation is underway.
