Two siblings die as motorcycle collides with truck near Salem

SALEM: Two siblings died when a motorcycle they were travelling on collided with a truck near Thammampatti in Salem district on Thursday.The deceased have been identified as S Damodharan, 23, and his brother, S Mohan, 18.

The siblings, who hailed from Kodumudi in Erode district, were running a battery service centre at Thuraiyur in Trichy district.Police said the duo were riding on an unregistered motorcycle at a high speed. The motorcycle collided head-on with a truck on a curve on the Thammampatti- Malliyakarai road at Keezh Kanavai.Damodaran, who was riding the two-wheeler, died on the spot while Mohan, who was riding pillion, succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Attur govt Hospital in a 108 ambulance.The Malliyakarai police registered a case.
