DeShaun Foster is no longer the head coach at UCLA. The school fired him on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025, after the team opened the season with three straight losses. The announcement was made by athletic director Martin Jarmond through an official statement.

UCLA’s latest defeat came on Friday night in Los Angeles when the Bruins lost 35-10 to New Mexico, dropping their record to 0-3.

Martin Jarmond said in the release that he was thankful for DeShaun Foster’s years of service to the football program. He praised Foster for his time as a Hall of Fame running back at UCLA, his work as an assistant coach, and later his effort as head coach. Jarmond added, “He is a Bruin for life, and we wish him, his wife Charity, and their family the best.”

DeShaun Foster, who is 45 years old, was in only his second season leading the Bruins.

He took over the program in 2024 after Chip Kelly stepped down. Foster’s first year ended with a 5-7 record as UCLA played its debut season in the Big Ten Conference. This fall, the Bruins lost to Utah 43-10 in the opener, then fell to UNLV 30-23 before Friday’s home loss to New Mexico.
