Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a commanding 2-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, completing a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate victory.
Ousmane Dembele was the standout performer, scoring twice to ensure the holders progressed comfortably despite a spirited challenge from the home side.
How PSG Thrashed Liverpool

Liverpool’s task became even more difficult after a worrying first-half injury to Hugo Ekitike, who went down clutching his Achilles and had to be substituted. Mohamed Salah, potentially playing his final Champions League match for the club, was introduced earlier than planned and almost made an immediate impact, creating several chances that went unconverted.
The hosts pressed hard in the second half and briefly appeared to have a route back into the tie when Alexis Mac Allister was awarded a penalty. However, VAR overturned the decision, a moment that proved pivotal in the context of the match.

Reflecting on the incident, Ibrahima Konate said, “Last season we had a penalty like that. For me it was a clear penalty and was just behind the referee but he did not blow the whistle and we have to deal with that. If we got the penalty and score it would be completely different."
As Liverpool committed more players forward in search of a breakthrough, PSG capitalised on the spaces left at the back. Dembele struck in the 72nd minute with a precise finish from outside the box before adding a second in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt.
After the match, Dembele acknowledged the difficulty of the tie, saying, “It is the quarter-finals of the Champions League, in a stadium like this, and even though we won 2-0 in the first leg we knew it was going to be difficult. In any case there are no easy matches in the Champions League. You have to suffer if you are going to go all the way in this competition."
Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted the season has been challenging, stating, “It is part of our season. We had Alex, Hugo and Florian together for only 88 minutes before tonight. We added 28 minutes and I would be surprised if we can add a few more minutes to that (this season)."
PSG will now face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
