ULHASNAGAR: In a meeting held between the municipal officials and labour union leaders in the standing committee hall, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation's Commissioner Manisha Awhale announced on Tuesday that each employee will receive a Diwali ex-gratia (bonus) of ₹18,000.
Following this decision, municipal workers expressed happiness.
The meeting regarding the Diwali bonus was chaired by Municipal Commissioner Awhale, along with Additional Commissioner Kishor Gawas and Chief Accounts Officer Kiran Bhillare. Labour union leaders including Shyam Gayakwad, Charansingh Tak, and Dilip Thorat were also present.During the meeting, it was decided to grant ₹18,000 as a Diwali bonus to the employees. This ex-gratia payment will benefit around 2,000 municipal employees. The Chief Accounts Officer, Kiran Bhillare, has been instructed to deposit the Diwali bonus along with the salary directly into the employees’ bank accounts before Diwali.Due to this ex-gratia payment, the municipal corporation will bear an additional financial burden of approximately ₹3.5 crore.UMC is already facing a severe financial crisis, with pending payments of about ₹80 crore to contractors.
